FEATURECAST TO THE PAST

Reflection Time

Project Purpose:
To understand the difference between Cause/Effect Relationships and Correlations. To understand how and why major events in history are connected and intertwined (think yarn activity!). To research a major event from U.S. history in order to understand why it is significant and how it relates to other major events. To understand features of a feature article and podcast and to be able to create a feature article or podcast about your major event in history.

Project Requirements:
To present the 5Ws of your major event to the class. To write/peer edit/revise a feature article or podcast. To have at least three drafts in your Writing Portfolio. To present a polished version of your feature article or podcast on Media Night, as well as posting it online to our Team Featurecast from the Past web page (made by James).

Specific Concepts Learned:
Number One-One concept that I learned is that the Sacco and Vanzetti Case was very Controversial and had a big impact on the world because of the racism and prejudice.

Number Two-Another concept that I learned was all about the Rodney King case and how the beating actually happened in detail and how it affected the whole Los Angeles Area

Challenges:
The main Challenge that I faced was the fact that I could think of a way to connect my event to a current event. I talked to Ms. Staff adn we thought of the rodney King Case.

Real World Significance:
This connects to the real world because there is still a lot of racism wheather we want to beleive it or not.

Broadway Baby

When you walk on the stage and the lights hit you, you get this rush. You feel like a star and like nothing can go wrong. I feel safe when I'm on the stage, whether I'm acting, singing or dancing. I feel energized and ready for anything that is put in front of me. When you're on the stage and the lights are shining down on you, it feels like you're in the hot summer sun. You are supported by the other people on stage with you, and are expected to do the same. Just like in real life, the people who are around you support you when the going gets tough.

For me, the stage is a second home. I always feel at home and comfortable. It's great to have the audience's attention because then you know you are doing something right. The Audience is my battery: when they are enthused, I am too, and when they aren't, I'm not either. When you hear the audience cheering for you, it's like you just won an award and they are your fans. I live for the stage and I wouldn't be the same without it. It helps me stay strong. When I get tense, I can figure it out on the stage. All my World's a Stage.
